Nestled in the peaceful heart of Central Kentucky, Willisburg Lake is a prime fishing lake, with 10 miles of natural shorelines, 126 surface acres, and depths in excess of 60 feet. Its many bays and fingerlets are home to several popular sport fish species. Fishermen are most likely to catch largemouth bass, shellcrackers, bluegill, white crappie, yellow bullhead, and catfish. For the safety of all, there is no swimming, skiing, jet skiing permitted. This manmade reservoir opened to fishing in 1971, after completion of the dam in 1969. The lake provides water to the City of Springfield and much of Washington County, as well as a natural habitat to wildlife, such as whitetail deer, canadian geese, mallards, eastern wild turkey, blue herons, and turtles.
