Welcome to Shell Island Fish Camp, a family owned and operated piece of old Florida located in the quaint fishing village of St. Marks, Florida. The camp overlooks the pristine Wakulla River, which features a well-marked, easy to run channel. Just 18 miles south of Tallahassee on State Road 363, Shell Island has been in Hobbs/Bevis family since 1962. At Shell Island Fish Camp we have the best speckled trout fishing the State of Florida has to offer, as well as red fish, mackerel, blue fish, cobia, rock bass and more. The local restaurants serve some of the best fresh seafood around and some will even “cook your catch” for you. There’s nothing better than fish you caught today, hot and ready to eat on your plate tonight. We can handle large or small groups, families, companies, and tour groups. Non fishing groups enjoy our quiet and peaceful surroundings. Everyone enjoys our wide variety of attractions nearby, these include the beautiful St. Marks Wildlife Refuge, featuring the old St. Marks Lighthouse and great bird watching; Wakulla Springs State Park, with one of the deepest and largest fresh water springs in the world; the Saint Marks Tallahassee Bike Trail; Gulf Specimen Lab, where visitors can get up close and personal with local sea life; the San Marcos de Apalache Historic State Park, where guests can tour the remains of an old Spanish fort; Natural Bridge, site of the confederate battle that saved Tallahassee from war; Kayak and canoe rentals and much more. Shell Island Fish Camp features three types of lodging, a 24 room motel, four 2 bedroom cabins with full kitchens, and 5 one room cabins (park models). We can accommodate individuals, families and groups from 2 to 100 people. All of our accommodations feature AC and heat, TV, coffee pot and daily maid service. We have a covered pavilion with picnic tables, ceiling fans, hot and cold water in a large sink and electric hookups, perfect spot for our group cookouts and get togethers. When staying here at the camp, the use of the boat ramp is free. Our Main attraction is the laid back atmosphere on the bank of the beautiful Wakulla River. Oh yeah, some people come to fish and are not laid back but gung ho, we can do that too.
