Indian Lake is a borough in Somerset County, Pennsylvania and is home to a number of different attractions including Indian Lake Golf Club, Northwinds Golf Course, Indian Lake Resort, Indian Lake Marina, and the new James W. McIntyre Hiking and Biking Trail.
The 750+ acre, 5-mile long horseshoe-shaped lake is privately run with use limited to property owners and a small number of local use permit owners. Such permits are offered for sale each year. Residents enjoy water skiing, tubing, personal watercraft, fishing - just about every imaginable water sport. Power boats are limited in length, 22 feet for ski-type boats/runabouts; 30 feet for pontoon boats, but there is no horsepower limit. All watercraft require state and local registration.
Approximately half of the homes at Indian Lake are year-round permanent residences and half are seasonal homes. Rentals are also available, and each year a number of lake-front and golf-course homes are available for sale; all property owners, not just lakefronts, may enjoy use of the lake via docking at the Marina or an available public launch.
